An oval cabochon with radiant purple-and-green colour across a genuine crystal opal body. Gentle mossy colour drifts spread over the stone like plant growth captured in stone. The translucent body means the colour reads from any angle.

The stone weighs 2.56ct and is shaped to 14 x 10 x 4mm. Colour stays radiant even at shallow viewing angles. This is 100% natural solid Australian opal — no treatments or enhancements of any kind. Mined at Coober Pedy, South Australia — widely known as the opal capital of the world. Sourced, cut, and finished by our family — mine-direct from the earth to you.

Ideal as a centrepiece ring or a small-to-medium pendant.

About Crystal Opal

Crystal opal has a translucency that allows deeper colours to be seen. Australian crystal opal is the best in the world and is found in all the opal regions. Crystal Opal can also come in Dark and Black Crystal. It is often the favourite variety of Opal Miners and Traders because of its high clarity giving the colour play more depth and vibrancy.

In Opal, clarity means how crisp and sharp the colour is and how deep the colour seems to penetrate. An opal with a haze of grey or white over the colour would be regarded as having low clarity. The higher the clarity the rarer the opal and the higher its value.

Authenticity

At WIRRU Opal we only sell natural solid Australian opals. No treatment. All our opals come with a certificate of authenticity, showing a photo of the piece, the dimensions, the region of origin, the type of opal, the prominent colours and its weight in carats.
