Lively, blue-and-purple colour moves across this oval light opal as it turns in the light. Crisp foil flash catches the light and throws it back with reflective intensity. The milky white body tone gives the stone a classic, bright-face look.

This piece comes in at 2.05ct, cut to 7 x 14 x 3mm. The flash reads lively and clean, with strong presence under any light. It's a 100% natural solid opal — no treatments. Mined at Coober Pedy, South Australia — widely known as the opal capital of the world. Mined, cut, and polished in-house by our family operation.

Ideal as a centrepiece ring or a small-to-medium pendant.

About Light Opal

Light Opal was the first variety of opal to be recognised in ancient times, and today is found in all the opal fields in Australia. Coober Pedy in South Australia produces the most of this classical opal type. Light Opal is regarded by many traditions and even religions as a magical gem that represents the moon and purity.

Light Opal tends to be less flashy with its colour play than crystal or black opals, but the very best Light Opals can rival them all. Light Opal comes to life even in very low light making it perfect for evening jewellery.

Authenticity

At WIRRU Opal we only sell natural solid Australian opals. No treatment. All our opals come with a certificate of authenticity, showing a photo of the piece, the dimensions, the region of origin, the type of opal, the prominent colours and its weight in carats.
